The new website

I’m thrilled to be launching this new website in fall. Each season is a transformation in Chicago but autumn is, in my opinion the most profound. With the leaves turning colors and falling, it reminds us that we too shed. In yoga we do this by letting go, releasing, non-grasping, non-possessiveness. This is the last of the yamas, or social attitudes.

Each time you begin your practice, it is an opportunity to start afresh. You settle into a pose, you bring focus to your mind as it rests in your body. In doing so, you can release physical and mental tension you’re holding. But we hang onto things. We hang onto the desire to master, to reach something. This is a tension in itself. As humans, we seek.

Our breath is another reminder that we can let go. Each exhalation is a release before the inhalation draws in fresh oxygen and with it, something new. It’s interesting that within us and all around us there are indications that we, like the natural world, change and release and renew. I look forward to this transformation with you.
